Why Study in the USA?

The USA hosts the world's largest international student community — over 4,000 universities, unmatched research funding, and degrees that carry weight with every global employer. From Silicon Valley tech to Wall Street finance, an American education puts Pakistani students at the centre of opportunity.

FM Consultants matches you with US universities that fit your grades and budget — including institutions offering generous international scholarships and flexible entry requirements.

Popular US Universities & Courses

Computer Science, Data Science, Business, Engineering, Health Sciences and Finance remain the top picks for Pakistani students. We guide you toward accredited universities with strong international student support and Optional Practical Training (OPT) outcomes. Explore options on our universities page.

Admission Requirements for Pakistani Students

  • Bachelor's: HSSC (Intermediate) with strong grades; many universities are test-optional (no SAT required)
  • Master's: A recognised 4-year Bachelor's degree with 60%+ (CGPA 2.5+); GRE waived at many universities
  • English: IELTS 6.0–6.5, TOEFL 79–90, PTE or Duolingo accepted at most institutions

Fees & Scholarships in the USA

Tuition typically ranges from $20,000 to $45,000 per year depending on the university. International merit scholarships of $5,000–$25,000 per year are widely available — many awarded automatically based on your grades. We shortlist universities where your profile earns the maximum scholarship.

US Intakes: Fall and Spring

The main intakes are Fall (August/September) — the biggest intake with all courses and scholarships available — and Spring (January), which offers a wide range of popular programmes. Apply 6–8 months early for the best scholarship consideration.

USA Student Visa (F-1) for Pakistani Students

The F-1 visa is interview-based, and preparation makes all the difference:

  1. Receive your I-20 after accepting your offer and paying the deposit
  2. Pay the SEVIS fee and complete the DS-160 application
  3. Book your embassy interview in Islamabad or Karachi
  4. Prepare proof of funds and strong ties to Pakistan
  5. Attend your interview — we conduct realistic mock interviews first

FM Consultants' interview coaching is why our students maintain a 98% visa success rate.

Post-Study Work: OPT & STEM OPT

After graduating, F-1 students can work in the USA for 12 months on OPT — and STEM graduates (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) get a 24-month extension, totalling 3 years of US work experience. Many graduates then move to H-1B sponsored roles.
